How to speed up the execution of the script in a loop

I have the following script, which is written in Python. It contains a loop, which iterates 30 times. The code below is only one iteration.
The first 3.5 seconds it takes to execute the code (included a time.sleep(1) in the beginning to make the process more clear).
How to make the code faster, so that after 3.5 seconds, it stops the execution of the script (and start the next iteration of the loop).
data = np.random.normal(0.5, 1.0, 500000).reshape((1000, 500000))
data_2 = np.random.normal(0.5, 1.0, 1000).reshape((10, 100))
data_3 = np.random.normal(0.5, 1.0, 100).reshape((10, 10))
data_4 = np.random.normal(0.5, 1.0, 100).reshape((10, 10))
data_5 = np.random.normal(0.5, 1.0, 100).reshape((10, 10))

for i in range(0, 4):
data[:,i] = data_2[i] + data_3[i] + data_4[i] + data_5[i]
if(data[:,i].shape[0] == 0):
continue

Rather than adding to the same array, you could use broadcasting to add the new data to a shifted version of the original data:
data[:,i] += data[:,i-1]

NEW!

Do you need to manage energy simulation jobs?

jEPlus enables you to set the EnergyPlus parameters for parametric analysis and run EnergyPlus codes.

jEPlus is the new name of a former application called EnergyPlus Configurator.

The tool offers you a convenient graphical interface to view and manage simulation jobs. You can centralize the output from simulation projects, analyze it and manage the results.

You can set different parameters of the job, such as number of jobs to be run in parallel, type of output files, etc.

Use the CSV format to import and export the job parameters.

The program runs EnergyPlus projects.

You can run various EnergyPlus projects: for instance, you can run an optimization in parallel.

You can save your settings, the jobs, results, etc. for each project and restore them later.

The Results tab displays the results obtained for a specified project, the analysis is performed, the results are displayed and you can save them.

Make configuration files and modify them

jEPlus allows you to define the EnergyPlus parameters for parametric analysis. For instance, you can modify the input conditions for a project, as well as create an exhaustive filter.

Import files for EnergyPlus projects

jEPlus allows you to import files from an IDF/IMF project template, as well as files that contain the EnergyPlus code to be run. The configuration of projects is simple: you just need to choose the project that is compatible with the file type.

Output RVI format

The jEPlus results can be exported to RVI format.

Selecting a file format of output

You can define the RVI format of the results (RVI with WISE, wNED, wNXD, etc.) according to the format of the project.

jEPlus allows you to set EnergyPlus parameters and run EnergyPlus codes. The tool is based on Java and provides a graphical interface to view and manage simulations. It enables you to centralize the results from a certain project and analyze it.

To export the results of a job, the JEPlus software provides three output formats: RVI format, iXML format and EnergyPlus format.

jEPlus is the new name of a former application called EnergyPlus Configurator.

jEPlus is an easy to use application that can help
